Redlands Kayak Tours rescues adventurous dog at Thorneside

After returning from a three-hour kayaking tour on Saturday, Redlands Kayak Tours co-owner Tony Beutel had to paddle into the bay once more to rescue an adventurous Golden Retriever called Lucy.

Apparently, Lucy regularly swims along the Thorneside Beach foreshore, but on Saturday swam further away than usual and wouldn't come back when called. Her frantic minder spotted Tony and wife Katrina returning from a tour and asked for help. By this time, Lucy had made it past the Aquatic Paradise canal inlet and was on her way to Wellington Point. So, Tony paddled after her, joined her in the water and then lifted her onto the kayak.

Lucy enjoyed the ride back – thinking the paddles were part of some sort of game – and was keen to stay on even when they reached the shore!
